Responsible Care

Trans World Trading Co., Inc., (the “company”) has a decades-long record of Responsible Care and maintains the highest standards of occupational health and safety awareness in the industry.

The company’s adherence to these principles can readily be observed at the Trans World Trading Don Pablo Logistics Center – BCH Park.  This facility was recently renamed to honor both the company’s founder, Don Pablo Uy, and its long-time Chairman and President, Bun Chin Hwang.  BCH Park is located at Laguna Technopark in Binan, Laguna, within driving distance of the company’s headquarters in Makati.

In its day-to-day operations, the company abides by all legal requirements to achieve sustainability.

We are committed to the following Responsible Care tenets:

  • Employee Health and Safety
  • Product Stewardship
  • Environmental Protection and Pollution Prevention
  • Transportation Distribution and Safety
  • Security
  • Community Awareness and Emergency Response

With its more than seventy years in industry, Trans World continues to promote safety awareness and to reduce environmental risks in the workplace. A Company Clinic and numerous first aid resources are readily accessible on-site.

Throughout BCH Park, safety signs, railings, designated pedestrian lanes and emergency facilities are standard at all appropriate places.  Proper training in handling hazardous substances extends from procurement to disposal.

The facilities and systems at BCH Park consist of an efficient inventory system that minimizes human error, cold storage rooms that are maintained at appropriate temperatures, and suitable barriers such as  screens, roll up doors, and transparent curtains to prevent wildlife from entering the facility.

Environmental Protection and Pollution Prevention standards have been adopted, with several waste segregation bins and spill kits available at all key points within BCH Park.  Hazardous waste is separated from other materials to prevent contamination.

Security is given top priority, with separate storage areas for regulated and controlled chemicals with 24-hour guards on watch.

Transportation and Distribution systems are constantly enhanced with ongoing education and the leveraging of current technologies.  Per our Motor Pool guidelines, all drivers of trucks are required to complete Defensive Driving training and are provided with Material Safety Data Sheet/Transport Emergency Cards, a list of emergency hotlines, first aid kits, flashlights and cellphones.  The blood pressure of each driver is constantly monitored.  Further, prior to each shift, all drivers are subject to breathalyzer tests to check for alcohol in their blood levels.

Finally, the company prioritizes the safety of all visitors to BCH Park by providing appropriate safety orientations, information assistance, and immediate emergency response, as needed.  An Incident Command System and Crisis Management Team is in place to manage incidents and address critical and emergency situations.  An Emergency Evacuation Route has been specified and clearly designated on the premises with glow in the dark signs leading to emergency exits.

The company is likewise committed to sustainable development and community outreach by providing academic scholarships through its affiliate for charitable and philanthropic efforts, the Don Pablo K. T. Uy Foundation.

Further, the company supports important projects at the barangay level and programs of national non-government organizations such as Habitat for Humanity Philippines. Trans World Trading Co., Inc. maintains a culture that prioritizes quality service to its suppliers and customers while ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees and stakeholders in sustenance of its contribution to the community and the country.
